Who We Are

Tzahal Shalom of Northern Westchester was founded in 2006 by Anita Greenwald and Michele Kraushaar to welcome active-duty, combat officers from the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) to the Northern Westchester community. The soldiers act as good will ambassadors, forging a connection between Israel and those of us living in Northern Westchester.  

Through our sponsoring organization, Friends of the IDF, the soldiers are hand picked for this "mission".  The Program Services Cabinet of UJA Federation of Westchester provided us with the initial grant to help get the program started, and continues to support Tzahal Shalom.

Tzahal Shalom of Northern Westchester to date is largely funded by individual donations from the community. This program truly is a gift to the community from the community.

Tzahal Shalom of Northern Westchester looks forward to welcoming the soldiers for many years to come. Your support of the program enables us to do that and is deeply appreciated. To date, hundreds of volunteers have gotten involved in this amazing program.
